IntroductionYou are about to begin a trip on the Oregon Trail!
First, you have to get acquainted with the time period and idea of life on the trail. Watch the video "The Story of Us" to start. |
Part ATask 1
Click the link HERE to read about the Oregon Trail. You can explore any sections of the page, but you must read the section on "Hardships" and "Camping." Task 2 After you have read this section, go to Kid Blog and create a post. In your post, explain what you think would be the hardest parts of the Oregon Trail. Explain why you made the choices you did in your post. Remember, always end with a question so your readers can respond easily! Task 3 Respond to two other posts on the Oregon Trail. |
Part BYou will be working with your team to complete (at least attempt to complete) a trip along the Oregon Trail. You will face many decisions along the trail, such as how much to spend on various supplies, when to rest, when to hunt, etc. Team member #2 is the Wagon Leader. The other 3 or 4 members will be listed as Wagon Members. All team members will have voting rights, but if there is a tie in the voting, the Wagon Leader will be able to break the tie. Click on this link to begin your journey! Good luck! |

After your adventure on the Oregon Trail, click here to read about common challenges and mistakes people faced when traveling this Oregon Trail.
Did your group suffer from similar mistakes? Did you pack too much or too little? Did the weather hurt your team? Go to Kid Blog and write a post titled, "What I Learned from Traveling the Oregon Trail". Tell your readers what challenges your group faces and what you could do differently next time. Be sure to be specific about what challenged your group, or what caused you to fail. Remember to end with a question and comment on two other posts.
